Another Great Instrumental Christmas CD

Another entry in the "Winterlude" series, this is another of those instrumental Christmas CDs that youll want to play while contemplating a reminiscent Christmas.
As with "Piano Winterlude," which I have also reviewed here, "Guitar Winterlude" is another CD to listen to in the background while sitting in front of the fire with that special someone, or watching a gentle snowfall in twilight through a frost-framed window, and enjoying the twinkle of lights, the glitter of tinsel, and the reflective glow of glass ornaments on the Christmas tree.
The music exudes a warmth that is hard to describe in words. The CD is slightly more jazzier than "Piano Winterlude," but it sets the same basic mood, with just the right mix of light jazz and orchestral and solo instrumentals, along with a slight hint of the human voice here and there to create the perfect introspective soundscape. Probably the best way to describe this CD is "a sonic parallel of the reds, greens, silvers and golds of a decorated room on Christmas Eve."
The mood is set with "The House on Rowleys Bay" (track 1) and "Snowbound" (track 4). In between, the CD weaves itself around traditional carols with guitar, orchestra and various solo instruments, until finally it arrives at its destination with a restatement of the original theme (track 9).
The players include: Mark Baldwin, Craig Nelson, Pat Coil, David Hamilton, Mark Douthit, Eric Darken, and the Nashville String Machine.
At just under 42 minutes, the CD is not a long one. However, as in other "Winterlude" offerings, the emphasis is more on quality than quantity, making this CD an excellent addition to any Christmas CD collection.
Note: This CD is out of print, so it may be difficult to obtain. However, as with the other "Winterlude" CDs, your search will be greatly rewarded, as this CD will help you to experience those special, contemplative moods that the Christmas season creates.
